Who We Are
Updated On: Feb 05, 2022

The Danbury Professional Fire Fighters was first organized on Oct 9, 1944 as an affiliate of the International Association of Fire Fighters, and was designated Local 801.  Local 801 is a charter member of the Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut.

Local 801 represents all professional members of the Danbury Fire Department, with the exception of the Chief and Assistant Chief.  Our goal is to constantly improve the safety, working conditions, and benefits of our members.

We represent 120 professional fire fighters, and our members provide a multitude of services to the citizens of, and visitors to the City of Danbury.  In addition to fire suppression, our members also provide fire prevention inspections and code enforcement, fire investigations, technical rescue services, hazardous materials response, first response to emergency medical services calls, all in the City of Danbury, as well as our surrounding communities via mutual aid.

In addition to these Public Safety Services, our members are also involved in several community service projects every year.  Since 2001, Local 801 has raised over $178,000 for The Muscular Dystrophy Association.  In addition, our members  have contributed to the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation and the Arthur C. Luf Childrens Burn Camp, and several members have contributed their time and skills to help maintain and administer the camp.  Every holiday season, Local 801 sponsors a canned/non-perishable food drive to benefit the Salvation Army's food pantry, which distributes the collections to needy families in our community.  Local 801 members also annually sponsor over 100 children in a toy drive to benefit the Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program.

Our offices are located at 240 Main St, Danbury, Ct.,.  For more information, residents can contact us at (203) 743-2415, or by mail at: Danbury Professional Fire Fighters Association, PO Box 901, Danbury Ct, 06813
